The dishes he describes have nothing to do with the plot, but it has made me realize that reading about what the characters are eating/drinking is not only enjoyable but it gives me a more complete picture of the scene. Eating is a big part of life, and what people cook for themselves or eat or drink says something about them to a certain extent, so I appreciate the addition of these little details. I found the language to be difficult at times. Frequently throughout the novel, I completely zoned and was forced to reread sections. However, the language also gave and inside look of the characters' feelings. The dialogue in the book was minimal, rather the characters are always thinking of what to say or how to act. I liked ... For example in the latter half of the novel, Meursault begins having various epiphanies while he is in jail.
