The dishes he describes have nothing to do with the plot, but it has made me realize that reading about what the characters are eating/drinking is not only enjoyable but it gives me a more complete picture of the scene. Eating is a big part of life, and what people cook for themselves or eat or drink says something about them to a certain extent, so I appreciate the addition of these little details.
